Vintage Kitchen Meets 2025
Ease and efficiency for everyday cooking
The kitchen transformation began with the old range hood – but there was a challenge. A modern, integrated electric fan needed to be installed, but it cannot be placed directly above a wood-fired stove. The intense heat from the fire could damage the fan – or even create a fire hazard – so careful planning was essential.

The structure was reinforced with a double layer at the ends to firmly support the fan’s weight.
Finally, with all components securely installed and connected to electricity—there was light!

The existing sturdy steel structure, which already holds the range hood in place, became the perfect foundation.
The solution was a 12 mm plywood sheet; a precise opening was cut to house the integrated fan.
An aluminium strip was added to shield the wood from heat exposure, ensuring the surface would stay safe and durable over time.
Would it fit inside the hood? The height of the kitchen fan had to be considered in relation to the slanting side of the range hood. This meant it couldn’t be placed exactly in the center. But what should support it – heavy material or something lighter?
Spray-painted to create a smooth, wipeable surface capable of handling everyday kitchen use.
Next came the delicate part: lifting the fan into place, fitting it precisely, and hoping everything would align perfectly.
